Your Laravel application is still essential, but its previous provider is unavailable, fixes are piling up or an upgrade is becoming necessary. Weve helps you recover the knowledge needed to maintain the system, address priority risks and make further development manageable. We start with an agreed audit scope, not a decision to rebuild everything.
When should you bring us in?
- You are changing providers and need to organize the handover of code, hosting and responsibilities.
- Your internal team needs support to assess an older application or prepare its modernization.
- Incidents, manual workarounds or unreliable integrations are slowing operations down.
- A business improvement is blocked by dependencies, inadequate tests or an unclear deployment process.
This may involve a portal, an internal CRM, a back office or a SaaS platform. The initial discussion establishes what the application does, which problems have been observed and who operates it. If urgent work is needed, its scope and the available access must be checked before anything is changed.
An audit that leads to decisions
We examine the agreed areas: PHP and Laravel versions, dependencies, architecture, data, permissions, backups, deployment, tests and connections to other tools. The assessment connects technical findings to business workflows. An issue preventing invoicing should not be treated in the same way as a usability improvement on a rarely used screen.
The deliverables and their level of detail are defined at scoping. Depending on the agreed work, they include a system map, prioritized risks, missing access, completed checks and alternative takeover approaches. Each option sets out its prerequisites and limitations. Unresolved questions are recorded; an audit is not a guarantee that no vulnerabilities remain.
From handover to ongoing maintenance
- Transfer knowledge. Identify account owners, the authoritative repository, environments and useful operating procedures.
- Make changes safer. Check restoration, prepare a test environment and protect critical workflows before development.
- Work in verifiable batches. Separate fixes, upgrades and new features so that decisions remain clear.
- Organize ongoing operations. Document procedures, error monitoring, responsibilities and the next maintenance batch.
A takeover may lead to targeted fixes, a phased upgrade or the replacement of one component. If some parts can no longer be maintained reasonably, we make that clear. The approach depends on the findings, your operational constraints and the capabilities of the team that will keep running the application.
An explicit working agreement
Before development, we agree the scope, contacts, authorized access, acceptance criteria and intervention conditions. Timing, budget, hosting and any support arrangements are defined at this stage. They cannot be inferred from the Laravel version number alone. Corrective, preventive and development work should remain distinguishable in the reporting.
Want to compare approaches before contacting us? Our Laravel application takeover guide explains the audit checks and decision criteria. The ongoing maintenance contract guide helps you prepare the scope of a longer-term engagement.
Tell us about the application
Tell us what it is used for, the main difficulty, the versions if you know them and whether an internal team is involved. You do not need a complete specification to start the discussion. Do not attach passwords, API keys or configuration files containing secrets to the form: their transfer should be arranged separately through a secure process.
